Atrenta Introduces First Comprehensive Hardware and Software Analysis for Electronic System-Level Design

Jun 13, 2005

SAN JOSE, Calif. June 13, 2005 -- Atrenta Inc., a leading provider of advanced design automation solutions to the global semiconductor industry, today introduced two breakthrough solutions that bring new speed, precision and predictability to Electronic System-Level (ESL) design. The new solutions, called 1Team:System and 1Team:Embedded, assist system hardware and embedded software development, respectively. 1Team:System provides the first comprehensive analysis environment for validating and optimizing SystemC hardware designs; 1Team:Embedded does the same for C and C++ embedded software designs.

Applying Atrentas proprietary Predictive Development technology, 1Team:System and 1Team:Embedded ensure that hardware and software are designed correctly from the start: free of coding hazards, compliant with industry-standard and company-specific best practices and coded for optimal portability, maintainability and reuse.

Together, the solutions represent a significant advancement for ESL. ESL offers a way to master the growing complexity of systems, by creating designs at a higher level of abstraction, said Ajoy Bose, CEO of Atrenta. But ESL has its own complexity challenges, and new tools are needed to assist designers and accelerate ESL-based development. This includes not only system hardware, but also embedded software development, which is often overlooked in our EDA-centric industry. Theyre both critical pieces. 1Team:System and 1Team:Embedded are the first in a new generation of solutions that will do for ESL what EDA has done for IC development.

Faster, More Economic System Development
The new Atrenta products significantly speed, simplify and economize system development. 1Team:System reduces the SystemC learning curve, helping new SystemC users become proficient and productive, quickly and easily. At the same time, it enables experienced SystemC users to write better code. And 1Team:Embedded helps embedded software designers validate and optimize their code early in the development cycle, which is far more efficient and cost-effective than making late-stage changes. With their high-level functional analyses and best practices, 1Team:System and 1Team:Embedded are much more than simple code checkers. In addition to semantic and syntactic checks, they examine overall software architecture, coding practices and functional implications, including impacts on performance, platform-independence, maintenance and reuse. In so doing, the solutions complement and extend conventional debugging tools.

1Team:System--Most Advanced SystemC Analysis
1Team:System represents a new level of SystemC analysis, more advanced than previous SystemC approaches. Unlike alternative solutions that address only syntax, 1Team:System ensures total system accuracy across all levels of the design hierarchy. It validates structure, function, data organization and communication protocols. It promotes best practices, helping to optimize code and reducing the SystemC learning curve. In addition to its built-in best practices, 1Team:System is uniquely customizable, enabling companies to capture and automate their design expertise. 1Team:System also bridges the RTL/SystemC modeling gap and saves significant debugging time by helping architects verify that all interfaces between SystemC and RTL are correct. Moreover, code analyzed with 1Team:System is simulation- and synthesis-ready and can easily be reused across multiple product generations.

1Team:Embedded--Most Comprehensive Embedded Software Analysis
1Team:Embedded uses sophisticated module- and system-level analysis to quickly identify and avoid C and C++ coding and simulation hazards. It includes the industrys most comprehensive library of industry-standard best practices--over 200 C and C++ rules, plus 1200 warning and syntax messages. 1Team:Embedded incorporates such standard best practices as the MISRA (Motor Industry Software Reliability Association) rules and Ellemtel Telecommunication Systems Laboratories recommendations. And, as with 1Team:System, the rules are fully customizable, enabling users to automate and propagate their coding expertise and company standards. 1Team:Embedded also helps companies improve software process management as defined by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) framework. 1Team:Embedded includes a complete set of rules to ensure maintainability, reuse and cross-platform compatibility.

Based on Industry Standards; Integrates Seamlessly with Existing Design Flows
1Team:System and 1Team:Embedded are available on Linux, Windows, Sun and HP operating systems. 1Team:Embedded is integrated with popular IDE platforms, such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse IDE, Visual SlickEdit and Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio.
