SAN JOSE, CA, February 25, 2002 - Atrenta Inc. announced that its chairman, president and CEO, Ajoy Bose, was honored as a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kanpur, one of the premier institutes of higher learning in India. The DAA is the highest award given by IIT Kanpur to its alumni in recognition of achievements of exceptional merit in the area of entrepreneurship, R&D, teaching, management or any other activity pertaining to the service of humanity at large. Dr. Bose was chosen to be the recipient of this prestigious award for his outstanding contributions in the field of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and for his accomplishments in the area of management, leadership and entrepreneurship. He joins an elite group of DAA recipients, that includes Rakesh Gangwal, former CEO of US Airways Inc., and N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Infosys Technologies Ltd. Dr. Bose accepted the award during a formal ceremony at the annual IIT Alumni Convention in Kanpur, India, on January 6, 2002.

Background
Dr. Bose received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1971 and earned a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bose began his professional career at AT&T Bell Labs, where he rose to Department Head of VLSI Design Automation. He left to join Cadence Design Systems as the Vice President of Engineering and was responsible for the product development of all CAE tools. He then founded and presided over Software & Technologies Inc. (since renamed Duet Technologies.) Dr. Bose established Interra Inc. in 1995, which has since spawned three profitable and independent companies. In January of 2001, he launched Atrenta, a leading provider of predictive analysis tools, with funding from several of the top VC firms.
