SAN JOSE, CA. - April 3, 2002 - Atrenta Inc., the Predictive Analysis company, today announced the release of SpyGlass for VCS, an option for SpyGlass 3.0 that improves RTL descriptions, which speeds up VCS simulation performance. Electronics companies look for every opportunity to increase simulation runtime performance for their complex designs. The new SpyGlass for VCS option takes advantage of Atrenta's unique expertise in predictive analysis to provide customers with a powerful and comprehensive rule set to identify areas in their Verilog RTL that can be improved for faster runtimes while avoiding race conditions.
To ensure an optimized flow between SpyGlass and VCS, Atrenta participates as a member of Synopsys'(R) in-Sync program for electronic design automation (EDA) interoperability. "Through Atrenta's participation in Synopsys' in-Sync program, mutual customers will benefit from a smoother, more interoperable flow between Atrenta and Synopsys tools to help meet their design needs," said Karen Bartleson, director of Quality and Interoperability, Synopsys, Inc.
"We are happy to work with Synopsys to bring products to market that increase productivity for our common customers," said Ghulam Nurie, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Atrenta. "We believe SpyGlass for VCS will provide VCS users with an easy-to-use approach to avoid race conditions and time consuming iterations. The ability to increase VCS runtime performance will play a critical role in meeting engineering schedules and improving time to market."
SpyGlass for VCS employs an innovative "look-ahead" engine, based on fast-synthesis and a logic evaluator, to create a structural representation of the Verilog RTL so it can perform detailed structural analysis and pinpoint exactly what areas of the RTL should be modified to improve VCS runtime performance.
Support for Verilog 2000 The additional constructs in Verilog 2000 are also supported in SpyGlass 3.0.
Pricing and Availability SpyGlass for VCS costs $10K per year as an option to SpyGlass 3.0. It runs on Sun/Solaris 2.5 - 2.8, HP-UX 10.2 and RedHat Linux 7 and above.
About Atrenta Atrenta offers a new approach in accelerating the design of complex ASICs, FPGAs, SoPCs and SoCs through predictive analysis. Its SpyGlass is the first tool that performs detailed structural analysis on register-transfer-level Verilog and VHDL code in order to check for complex problems, which include coding styles, RTL-handoff, design re-use, clock/reset requirements, and much more. Its breakthrough and innovative "look-ahead" capability incorporates a fast-synthesis engine, logic evaluator, and testability technologies. Atrenta has over forty customers, such as Agere, Agilent, Apple, ARM, Canon, Compaq, Fujitsu, Hitachi, LSI Logic, Motorola, National Semiconductor, NCR, Nortel and Olympus, who are using SpyGlass to achieve shorter overall design cycles, increased design productivity and lower costs. Atrenta headquarters in San Jose, California, with European headquarters in Swindon, England, a research and development center in India, and a sales and support distributor in Japan.
